Winter 2026 Maris Otter Pilsner

This beer showcases Maris Otter, an heirloom barley bred in England in 1965, the same year The Beatles scored three #1 UK hits. Stars aligned that year, as Maris Otter became one of the most celebrated barley varieties of the past century. Today it makes up less than 0.1% of global brewing acreage however, having lost commercial favor due to smaller yields than more ‘modern’ barleys. But it’s incredibly flavorful and we love it. Brewed as a Pilsner-style lager, Maris Otter lends a rich golden color and a dense creamy foam. Aromas of spicy peppermint, lemon preserves, and sweet alfalfa are anchored by a solid mid-palate and a long flinty mineral finish.
